Merry Christmas everyone :) I don't know how everyone did for presents, but I've done ok :) Got a set of Star Wars postage stamps and $100 from my parents (cept mum took the $100 for board and left a note :P). Grandparents gave me a mini Star Wars Trial Pursuit set (that is, it's a set of question cards like Trivial Pursuit with a dice with the 6 colours on the sides.) My sister gave me a Star Wars quilt and pillowcase set (noticing a theme here? :P) and my Uncle Malcolm gave me a piggy bank with $101 in it :) Then some little presents from friends too :) Andrea gave me and Stacey movie ticket vouchers, and Will and Angie gave us a nice bowl with chocolates in it, and Will also gave me a Star Wars comic book compendium thingee, where they put 6 or so comic books together that are from the same story, very cool, Rogue Squadron story, love it :) You didn't have to Will, I was just doing my job mate :) Katy sent me some scratch-its, no winners, but thankyou very much still hun :)

Still waiting for my present from Stacey, no idea what it is yet :) Anyways, better be off and see the family and get ready for lunch :)

Ah dear. Well, I have a rental car, it's a Magna. I was hoping for something smaller, as they're much cheaper on fuel, but at least it's a nice car. As far as RACQ is concerned, the damage to the car is repairable (that is, they are willing to pay the money it will cost for the repairs), just pending some interview I have to have on tuesday, where they're going to get more information, which apparently is standard proceedure, tho I don't recall having to do it last time my car got stolen. So I'm mildly suspicious that they in fact DONT do this every time, and they're checking I'm not trying to fraud them, especially since they just finished repairing the car barely a week ago. Maybe my.. contact... at RACQ can help me there :P

Other than that, relatively all good. The work I was working on at Laserforce is just about complete and shipping to Hungary on monday, but they still want me around, which is good, work work work. I can juggle that and laserskirmish for maximum $$$ (Plus some saving on the side by way of paying more tax than I should be, always good to get a surprise at tax time :)

Nearly Christmas, and all the shopping is done pretty much :) Now just to kick back and wait for the presents to start rolling in :P

Going to the cricket on Sunday, a friend from WYD has box seat tickets, lunch and drinks included! SWEEEET! And working tomorrow night with Michelle and Andrea, always fun, even if it is a party night :P Who needs sleep anyway? :P

Why do you mock me cruel world!

*sigh*

Ok, background first, as some of you would know, and others wouldn't, I had a smallish accident in my car the other week, knocked into the back of someone, cosmetic damage only, but enough of it to matter, it was in getting fixed for about a week and a half, looks all pretty shiney on the front, now just need someone to run into the back of me so it can match. But anyway, car was fixed, all good, back to having a car (tho I did have a rental car for about a week of the time it was getting repaired). Ok, enough back story.

So last night was Stacey's work's Christmas party. Good night had by all. Bit of drinking, bit of half dodgy food, lots of dancing (by everyone where everyone = everyone - me, I don't dance, deal :P) Also was good that Stacey won the main raffle prize, washing basket with over $100 of booze, yay, that's christmas sorted. So we catch a cab home, being tired and completely unable to take a washing basket of booze clubbing anyway. Went to tell cabbie to pull up behind that parked car on the side of the road as we were driving along stacey's stree, but lo and behold - no fucking car. Some bastards stole my car.

Fuckers.

Did all the usual crap, rang the police, filed a report, rand RACQ notified them, and with nothing else to do, went to sleep. Fortunately (kind of) I was awoke at about 7:45am (ugh, after a 1:30am sleep time) to a call from the police, telling me they'd found my car.... About 400m away.

Fuckers again.

I could have swore just after we'd gotten home last night I heard my car driving nearby, it's kinda distinctive, you can always tell a Holden as it is, and my car has a 'sports' exhaust. No, not a rice burner pineapple tin type exhaust, seems my exhaust just has one less baffle chamber than a normal exhaust, thus making it cheaper, hence my choosing it, tho it does make the car sound infinitely more meaty. But back to the story, could have sworn I heard my car, but with no way to verify this, did nothing about it. So Stacey's theory is they might have JUST stolen the car before we got home, were still in the area, and were stupid enough to drive past the house again, and seeing all the lights on cos we were home, figured dumping the car would be prudent, given the police would likely have been called. So they found the car nearby, with all my possessions in it still (hooray for remembering to take face plate off head unit for once) including guitars, radio, DVDs and even my P90-looking laserskirmish gun, and proceeded to steal another car and be off.

So now it's been towed, finger-printed and awaiting assessing by RACQ (again). Hopefully they'll find no reason to knock back my claim, that'd be the last thing I need. If they fix it, it'll be $350 excess. Given I just paid $600 getting it fixed a week ago, that sucks something fierce. Budget will be ringing me tomorrow about a rental car again, and my prefered smash repairer will probably be rubbing his hands together again with the thought of more work. Guess I'll be on the Christmas card list for a few more years yet.

And to top it all off, had to miss the Laserforce staff dinner tonight too. Free food, free booze, where's the justice in that?

Fuckers.

Well, I'm in Bonn in Germany, and had a fantastic afternoon.. We checked into our accomodation (a uni type accomodation in the style of the UQ colleges, but MUCH more posh :) We had the afternoon to ourselves, so we decided to hop a bus into the main city. Then we went to the nearest pub, and had a german beer :) very nice :) Then, as we were hungry, ordered dinner, mmm, snitzel... Yes, I know it's spelt wrong, and I don't care :P Then wandered into the middle of Sunday night mass in the Cathedral of St Michael in Bonn, so we stayed. Despite the mass being in german, we were able to pick up what was going on and when :) Part of the cathedral is a crypt, containing the relics of St Helen and St Michael, for whom the cathedral was named after. The place was magnificent, and the people were really friendly when they realised we were there for world youth day. Just waiting for a bus now to head back and get some sleep, been up for 15 hours so far :)

Well, hello everyone again :) Currently in the Athens Acropol Hotel in, funnily enough, Athens, Greece :) I can use my laptop on the internet from the hotel, so it's AWESOME :D

Ok, so what have we been up to? Been through Turkey and the Greek Islands. In Turkey, saw parts of Istanbul, Gallipoli, and Kussadasi (sp?)... Then got on a CRUISE SHIP (we were all expecting a dodgy dinky sail boat) and visited Patmos, Crete and Santorini, all so beautiful :D Now we're in Athens, saw the ruins of Corinth today, and some other stuff tomorrow :p Then flying off to Germany for the actual World Youth Day stuff :) Well, I'm gonna head off again, almost time for dinner and stuff :) Feel free to reply to this, I should be able to get the messages :)

... ok so not entirely true, I know when I'm supposed to be back again, but yeah :p In about 28 hours I'll be in Brisbane International Airport waiting to get on a plane to fly away to Turkey, Greece and Germany :) I'm sure some of you will miss me, and some not so much (since your only contact with me is through LJ, and 3 weeks without posting is the norm, not the exception for me :)

Starting to get excited now, I wasn't so much before, not sure why, you think 3 weeks overseas would be enough to make most people bounce all over the place, but I have been fairly subdued, to the point where people think I'm faking it. Well, I wasn't :p But it's beginning to creep up on me now :) It's gonna be awesome :D :D :D

The Antioch weekend went off without a hitch, ran on time (a rarity for weekends, I assure you) and was general well recieved by everyone. Yay. Also had a trivia night to raise some money to go Germany with. Also went very well, making around $1400 (which has to be split 3 ways, but you get that). Many thanks to Michelle in particular who helped with some donated prizes from lasers :)

But yeah, it's all good :)

Well, as usual, it's been quite a while since I've updated :) So what's been going on? Hrmm, how long since I updated with something meaningful? *goes to check* Well, seems like something meaningful hasn't appeared since before my birthday :p So what's changed since then?

Well, world youth day stuff steams ahead. All paid up, got passport, etc. Need to get shots still, hrmm, better get on that one. Had a information day type thing a little while ago, heard a bit more about specifically what we're doing, where we're going etc :) Reeeeeeaaaaally looking forward to going away and seeing places like Anzac Cove and the Dom (the huge cathedral at Cologne :)) and stuff... I've been overseas before (to New Zealand, if that counts :P) but yeah, this will be cool :) Three countries in 3 weeks, it's gonna be awesome :D

The Antioch weekend fast approaches... Working through all the things that need to be done, going to buy the presents for team and the parent couples and all teh helpers that help out on the weekend. Almost finished writing my talk that I have to give with Nae, and we're going to work on the intro speech tomorrow :) Most of team have done a large chunk of their talk, if not finished, so that's good :) Theme dance chosen, dance worked out, posters for sharegroups and sleep groups started and most of the way finished, and the banner is being started too :) Again, all good :) Looking forward to that too :) only get to lead one weekend (well, usually :)) so this is it :) What I'll do after the weekend in terms of Antioch, I don't know.. I'm not going to just up and leave or anything, but yeah, have to go from being a leader of the group to... well, I don't know... What do I want to do? Probably just bum around and help out where needed and play music, etc... Cross that bridge when I come to it :) One thing I know I guess, I'll try and slow down a bit.... There seems to be an alarming number of people who seem to think I'm on the way to burning out... I don't know if it's that bad, but I guess I am trying to do quite a lot all at once... Maybe it'll all be fine when I start getting some good sleep again...

Speaking of sleep, definitely got severe OSA (obstructive sleep apnoea) which basically means when I sleep, my throat kinda closes over and I can't breathe, so then my body has a bit of a cough and I start breathing again... for a while... According to the sleep study I had done, I "wake up" 30 times an hour. I say "wake up" cos it's not like I sit up and go, damn, I'm awake. I wake up in terms of brain wave patterns... I don't get the good deep sleep that you're meant to get, hence being tired and worn out all the time. So I need to use a machine that basically pushes air into me and keeps my throat open and then I can breathe the whole time. Got a machine, nicked it from my grandfather who got one free from qld health (he doesn't use it cos nana thinks it's too loud, and he had it mainly for snoring) so just need to get a mask to use now, which is like $200 (lucky one of the cheaper ones suits me, they can go up to like $400). Need to do that too... Might finally sell that kidney I've been joking about all this time...

Hrmm, so what else... Ah well, if I think of it, I'll post again :)

It's a Christian Youth Leadership training program for people aged 16 - 25 (heh, I just made it in :) and it was AWESOME! :D Antioch (my youth group) sent me along (with a few others, yay Petey and Katherine!) to learn about all that stuff... Apparently one or two people grumbled I didn't need to go cos I already have leadership "stuff" (and that may be true) but I got so much out of it. Not just leadership stuff of like groups and stuff, but personal stuff too. Very motivating, inspiring and just plain fun :) I was asked to be a small group facilitator, meaning I had to look after a small group of people and facilitate things in activities and discussions. My small group loves me :D And the good thing is, most of them live relatively close, so we can visit :) We did some theory work on stuff, and we did activities (yay, activities, I love my activities so I learnt some new ones to use :)) and some biger more involved activities, such as building flag poles and erecting them in the middle of nuclear peanut butter (basically a bit circle we weren't allowed into and we had to use ropes and team work to get the flags into position :)) SO much running through my head, trying to remember it all :) did warm up stuff in the mornings that pretty much involved us doing funny silly stuff, but we were doing it together, so looking silly was ok :) got to have discussions about topics related to the church and faith and stuff, which a lot of young people don't get the chance to do, so that was awesome too :) Met some wonderfully awesome people, and some very inspiring people, like Peter and Malwal, two guys from Sudan who came here as refugees, and are people who are very full of faith. They want to get more young people involved in the church and eventually go out and help others, most likely in Sudan. THe main guy who ran our sessions, Greg Smith, was an awesome dude, also very inspiring and funny and everything :) Learnt a lot from him... Ah, it was so much fun :) and so little sleep :p But I'm back now, full of ideas, enthusiasm and inspiration :) Cool thing is a lot of the people I'll see again at World Youth Day too :D :D :D But we will see most of the people again, just a matter of when :) SO yes, the people who grumbled about me going, it wasn't a waste, I learnt so much, and I think it showed last night even. Trick is to keep up the enthusiasm :)

Well, I'm back from Melbourne (most people probably didn't even know I was gone, I don't think I posted about it :)) but only for a short time, I have to go to some youth leadership camp thing tonight for a few more days, so won't be home properly til sunday night :) Ah well.... Had a good time in Melbourne, caught up with my sister I haven't really seen in about 18 months, many good times had :) when she picked me up, I'd only been in the car for about 5 minutes before we were laughing about our old jokes and stuff :) all good :) Also saw a few comedy shows, very funny. Wil Anderson, hilarious, but most of you probably already knew that one. Danny Bhoy, the half scot, half indian, also hilarious :) Jeff Greene, pretty funny, probably still would have paid to see him anyway, but the free tickets were better :p Justin Hamilton, oh my god, what a funny guy, nearly had an asthma attack from laughing. If you ever get the chance to see this man, see him :) He's an Aussie too, so more likely to catch him around :) And last but not least, Chris Addison (I think I spelt it right), also hilarious, has an awesomely funny aussie accent he likes to use :)

Also saw many of the sites of Melbourne, such as Luna Park, the Crown Casino (the foyer of the hotel has an awesome fountain display thing, must see :)), Lygon St, Chapel St, the Town Hall (a lot of the comedy shows are there, etc), rode trams, trains (their trains are different from ours, I say different straight up, cos they're not better or worse overall. You can eat on their trains, they have a bit more room and they have cool signs telling you which stop is next, etc. But they cost a shitload, one way to the city from the equivalent of about Birkdale (45 min ride) cost $7.10, and their stations are a bit scummy. Oh but you can buya ticket with your eftpos card, I thought that was cool :)) SO yeah, saw lots of stuff :)

Also met Stacey's family, well most of them anyway :) Very nice people :) One of her aunties looks just like one of my aunties. No chance of separation at birth here tho, one's from England and one's from New Zealand :)

So yes, Melbourne good, hopefully get back there again, maybe next Easter for more comfest action :) Anyways, probably should go pack my bags again :)

Last but not least, the LJ thing where you put your music on random then write down the first 25 songs to play, adding "in my pants" to the end :)

1. With a little help from my friends in my pants
2. Heaven in my pants (heheh)
3. All my life in my pants
4. You shit me to tears in my pants
5.
